Tin Whistle Workshop with Órlaith McAuliffe

Órlaith McAuliffe

Órlaith McAuliffe is celebrated as one of the foremost Irish flute players of her generation, admired for her technical command, vibrant musicality, and energetic style. Raised in London in a family steeped in Irish music, with roots in Killarney, Co. Kerry, Órlaith began on the tin whistle, guided by her mother, before progressing to the flute at age nine. She has since developed a distinctive voice that blends tradition with innovation.

Órlaith has won more than twenty All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil gold medals including championship titles on flute and tin whistle. Inspired by legendary musicians including Matt Molloy, Michael McGoldrick, and Kevin Crawford, her playing is noted for lightning-fast ornamentation, rhythmic drive, and deep emotional resonance.

She has performed across Ireland, Britain, and beyond at major festivals, concerts, and sessions, collaborating with leading performers.

Órlaith is a sought-after teacher, delivering workshops, classes, and masterclasses for students of all ages. She emphasises listening, repertoire, ornamentation, and creativity, inspiring the next generation of musicians. In 2016 she was awarded the TG4 Gradam Ceoil Ceoltóir Óg na Bliana (Young Musician of the Year).
